A callback text for when you can’t answer
A short reply solo handymen can save on their phone to collect the details needed for a useful callback.

If your phone rings while you are in the middle of a job, you usually have two bad choices: stop working or let it go.
A short text gives you a third option. You do not need to sell the job or promise a time yet. You only need enough information to decide what comes next.
Save this reply on your phone
Hi, this is [name] with [business]. I’m on a job and can’t talk right now. Please text me your address, what needs fixing, and two times that work for you. Photos help if you have them. I’ll reply by [time].
Change [time] to something you can actually keep. “By 6” is more useful than “as soon as possible.”
Check four things before you book it
- Is the address inside the area you serve?
- Is the work something you take on?
- Do you understand enough to estimate the visit length?
- Does one of the customer’s times fit your schedule?
If something is unclear, ask one question at a time. Do not call the job booked until you understand the scope and have agreed on a time.
Set it up on an iPhone
Apple lets you change the default call replies under Settings → Apps → Phone → Respond with Text. When a call comes in, tap Message and choose the saved reply. Apple keeps the current steps in its iPhone guide.
